Software Development Engineer

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible to oversee the API platform to quote and bind commercial insurance used by internal teams. You will be a part of a 12-member team of developers, collaborating with offshore partners. You must bring with you experience building APIs (REST), AWS, Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Kubernetes.This is a 6-month

• Resolve Jira tickets for new development needs
• Heads-down coding, backend development
• Own the product lifecycle for mid to large-sized projects
• Develop robust, scalable, fault-tolerant software systems
• Advance the design methodology and quality programming practices
• Research and advocate for industry standards and best practices in development methodology
• Aim for continuous improvement in software and development process within an Agile development team

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Agile/Scrum software development practices experience
• Leader in cloud native patterns, technology, and system architecture
• Independently drive features from inception to completion; production deployment
• Coding skills in Java, Groovy, and/or Kotlin
• Experience designing, working with REST APIs
• Familiar with developing services using Spring Boot on AWS
• Demonstrated ability to deliver low-latency, resilient, highly scalable APIs
• Experience using code versioning tools and IntelliJ IDE
• Experience with database technologies (Dynamo DB, RDS, Redis)
• Experience with Gradle
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (Docker, AWS) and how to use them in CI/CD environment
