DescriptionAmazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an innovative and passionate engineer to architect and build new capabilities for our Investments Platform. A singular goal of this platform is to provide our field personnel with secure, highly available, scalable and performant solutions and services so that they can continue to provide excellent service to our customers. The platform will provide the foundation for full-stack applications built using native AWS technologies. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS· 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams· Experience partnering with product OR program management teams· 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers· 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.· 5+ years of professional software development experience.· 5+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems· 5+ years of people leadership.· Expertise building and deploying scalable, highly available systems that have been delivered to end customers.· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.· Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Scala, C, C#.· Experience mentoring engineers and helping them develop their technical skills and leadership abilities.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS· Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.· 10+ years of experience in building large scale, multi-tiered, distributed applications.· Experience developing large scale services on AWS such as Amazon DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, IAM, Redshift, Athena.· Experience leading high-impact, cross team architectural design decisions, and guide senior engineers by setting examples to deliver solutions to ambiguous problems.· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.· Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.· Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals like object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
