We are working on leveraging AI/ML techniques (including unsupervised techniques and Large-Language-Models) to reduce the time Finance Operations teams and Accountants spend on monthly financial data processes.As a Manager here, you will guide your team of high performing engineers to build, scale, monitor, and optimize systems within AFFS. You will interface with several teams including Retail Systems, Marketplace Systems, Digital Systems, Web Services, Financial Systems and Operations. Our mission is to provide a world-class customer experience using scalable and robust software designed for both the business and technical realms.A successful candidate will be a hands-on manager with an established background in developing high volume and highly available services, strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a dynamic, fast paced environment.Key job responsibilities

Build a best-in-class engineering team that delivers excellent results through rapid iterations

Design and develop state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems

Cultivate engineering and operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning

Develop long term strategy for your programs and translate it into roadmap and action plan

Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

Mentor and grow superstar SDEs to take on increasingly higher responsibilities

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USABasic Qualifications

3+ years of engineering team management experience

7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
