Sr. Data Engineer, Retail Pricing Drivers

DescriptionThe Retail Pricing Drivers team drives the success of Amazon Retail. We build software that makes billions of monthly pricing recommendations on our marketplaces. We earn our customers' trust by consistently delivering the lowest prices possible: we price and publish prices automatically for the millions of products bought worldwide every day by our customers.You will be joining Retail Pricing Drivers Data & Analytics team which consists of several Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers.As a Senior Data Engineer you create the data models that drive our pricing algorithms, provide the data flows that ensure their functioning, and utilize data to gain insights into customer's success.This job is for you if you are passionate about working with the largest and most complex data to optimize service performance. You will own the models and processes for collecting and transforming data, and work within the Pricing software engineering teams to drive the resulting business initiatives. You will learn the customer's intentions, and support us in understanding them as we take our business to the next level.Key job responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, test, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for analytics and Reporting.

Implement data structures using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and SQL, AWS – Redshift, and OLAP technologies, Model data and metadata for ad hoc and pre-built reporting.

Work with product tech teams and build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using SQL, Python and Spark.

Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete reporting solutions.

Collaborate with Analysts, Business Intelligence Engineers and Product Managers to implement algorithms that exploit rich data sets for statistical analysis, and machine learning.

Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions, including annual budget processes.

Communicate effectively with product/business/tech-teams/other Data teams.

5+ years of data engineering experience

Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

Experience with SQL

Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

Experience operating large data warehouses

The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
