Job summaryProject Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

THE ROLEHave you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Asset and Configuration Management Engineering (ACME) team owns the tracking and managing Kuiper assets, such as satellites and ground stations, and their configuration.

The systems we build serve a fundamental role in the successful operation of the satellite constellation, these systems need to have mission-critical reliability, uptime, and performance.

Key job responsibilities
  • Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the mission needs.
  • Design and develop software systems that meet the mission criteria and requirements.
  • Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.
  • Help on-board and mentor new team members.
  • Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-available software services.
Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About the teamThe ACME team's mission is to track Kuiper assets and provide a central system for accessing, modifying, and understanding configuration values for these assets, as is needed for a safe operation of the constellation. Through automation, we will validate all new and updated configuration values as required before delivering to the destination assets.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing distributed software systems in GoLang
  • Hands-on experience with designing and developing performance optimized and highly available software systems
  • Experience in developing for cloud-native environments
  • Experience in developing software for Linux
  • Experience in a lead role, including guiding and mentoring other developers.
  • Hands-on experience with satellite communications and management software.
