Staff Software Systems Engineer, Mail and Messaging

Please note: This position will include supporting our US Public Sector customers. This position requires passing a ServiceNow background screening, USFedPASS (US Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards). This includes a credit check, criminal/misdemeanor check and taking a drug test. Any employment is contingent upon passing the screening. Due to Federal requirements, only US citizens, US naturalized citizens or US Permanent Residents, holding a green card, will be considered. About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Systems Engineer to join our Mail & Messaging team in Systems Engineering. This role goes beyond automation scripting—our ideal candidate will be a seasoned developer capable of building and maintaining robust, scalable systems and services. You’ll work on complex backend components that power our mail infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Python development (or comparable languages).Key Responsibilities:Architect, develop, and maintain backend systems and services supporting Mail & Messaging infrastructure.Write production-grade code in Python (or JavaScript, Java, or Go) to support scalable, high-performance systems.Design and implement APIs, service integrations, and backend logic for mail-related services.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack—from infrastructure to application logic.Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural planning.Contribute to automation and configuration management using tools like Ansible or Puppet.Build orchestration workflows by leveraging features of the ServiceNow platform.Support containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
