Job Description:

Title:
  • Technical Designer III

Description:
  • As part of a team, you will be responsible to create and release models, drawings, and configurations of engine hardware with a focus on machined parts.
  • You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of design, analysis, assembly, testing, and support of flight operations.
  • Your passion for space vehicle support systems means you are committed to the necessary quality and attention to detail required to support human space flight.
  • This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly
  • Apply relevant company, industry (design, drafting, parts) standards to engineering designs
  • Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule, and performance requirements
  • Self-prioritize and self-schedule work activity in support of the team

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of design and drafting experience of structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer
  • Proficient in Creo Piping
  • Proficient in Windchill and Creo View
  • Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and great communication skills
  • Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes for machined components and welded assemblies
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
  • Proficient with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc.
  • Must = or national, U.S. permanent resident (current holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Desired
  • 15+ years of design and drafting experience off structural parts, precision components, and subsystems using Creo/Wildfire/Pro-Engineer
  • Working knowledge of materials, machine design, mechanisms, and additive manufacturing (AM) techniques
  • Experience in component/assembly level structural/thermal FEA
  • Extensive practice in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Rocket engine structural and fluid systems experience
