The Sandwich Odyssey is looking to fill multiple kitchen positions. FULL AND PART TIME POSITIONS
We are a family run, scratch kitchen that is looking for energetic and passionate kitchen workers. Applicants are expected to cross train across multiple positions, work well within a team structure with a positive attitude, maintain cleanliness, and willingly take direction and feedback. A valid WA State food handlers permit is required, as well as knowledge of safe food practices. Ideally, you are someone who is self motivated and self sufficient while maintaining the practices of the establishment.
Duties:
- Cross train across multiple positions including prep, pantry, sauté, grill, and dish. Kitchen positions are viewed as fluid and we work in a team construct. When one member of the team is down or behind, you are expected to help pick them up!
- A willingness to stay on top of upkeep and cleanliness, also with flexibility to deep clean when needed.
- Make sure to follow kitchen practices of organization.
- Help manage product; ensure that food is kept fresh and is rotated properly using the basic FIFO guidelines.
- Ability to maintain a fast pace at all times while minimizing distractions, such as phone use.
- Must be constantly willing to take direction from Kitchen Managers and take on daily tasks assigned.
- Be occasionally flexible for additional catering work (we do all types of events).
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet for long hours.
- Applicants must be able to maintain personal cleanliness
Requirements:
- Basic knife skills are a must. Experience with a meat/cheese slicer is a plus. You will be expected to be trained on our slicing practices.
Daytime availability is essential. Typically, shifts occur between 9 AM and 6 PM, with some variation in start and end times for employees. We are open to a flexible schedule, but to support a small team, we ask that you be willing to occasionally cover shifts.
- Availability on Saturday is a must! We are closed on Sundays.
- On rare occasions, we may ask that you work an evening shift or a weekend shift for off-site catering. This is not a major requirement, but it is an added bonus (additional tips dependent on catering type may be included).
