The Opportunity
We are looking for a dedicated professional who takes pride in their work and is committed to safety and efficiency. This role is crucial to our daily operations, providing an opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment and tackle diverse mechanical challenges both in our shop and at nearby job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repair: Perform diagnostic tests on diesel engines and hydraulic systems to identify issues efficiently.
Maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance on dump trucks, trailers, medium-duty vehicles, excavators, dozers, rollers, and other heavy machinery.
Component Replacement: Repair and replace faulty components, including transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and steering mechanisms.
Tool Usage: Effectively utilize hand tools, power tools, and computerized diagnostic equipment for all repairs.
Quality Control: Operate and inspect repaired equipment to verify performance and compliance with specifications.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed, ensuring detailed service records are kept.
Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, adhering to OSHA and DOT best practices during all maintenance activities.
Field Support: Provide mobile support to nearby job sites for quick fixes/diagnostics as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Proven experience (5+ years preferred) as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role, with construction fleet experience a plus.
Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical knowledge of hydraulics, gas & diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, suspensions, air brakes, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is strongly preferred.
ASE Certifications in Medium-Heavy Truck Series or equivalent is highly desirable.
Tools: Must have a personal set of core hand tools with a rollaway toolbox.
Soft Skills: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; ability to read and understand service manuals and technical charts.
