Claims Manager - Commercial Auto & Equipment

What You’ll Do:

You’ll provide exceptional guidance and direction to the Commercial Auto and Equipment staff in order to help Sentry maintain its level of standards and ensure a high level of customer service is provided to our policyholders and claimants. In addition, you’ll:

• Work closely with your staff to communicate work direction, monitor service, discuss new coverage or laws and discuss performance

• Provide guidance and direction on claim files as the technical expert in the claims unit

• Provide authorization for claims exceeding the authorization of the staff

• Investigate complaints and follows through to satisfactory conclusion

• Monitor claim progression and complete file reviews

• Assist with budget preparation and operating within that budget

• Obtains and maintains state adjusters’ licenses as required

• Prioritize workloads and conduct file quality audits to ensure prompt and accurate file handling

• Review new claims not automatically assigned by the claims system and assign them to claims representatives for investigation, evaluation, and settlement

What it Takes:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

• Prior managerial/ supervisory experience and / or training preferred

• 5-8 years of related work experience

• Previous experience in claim handling, including investigations, and settlements

• Analytical ability to make appropriate decisions

• Strong human relations and communications skills

• Ability to meet travel requirements of the job and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

• Knowledge of claims processing and insurance coverages

• Ability to exercise judgement and discretion
