Miller Electric Mfg., LLC, an affiliate of Illinois Tool Works, continues to build new product development leadership capabilities for designing and launching world class welding solutions that provide strong customer value with superior high-performing, durable systems. This role is a key staff position within the Power Systems Division that requires both strategic and tactical leadership of top divisional projects.  Primary responsibility will be to lead new product development by deploying proven methods of project planning and talent management.Position Summary:Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership to divisional engineering resources. This position serves as a catalyst to drive creation, development, qualification, and release of new products into market segments that the division serves through the ITW Customer Back Innovation Process.Essential Functions: As a key member of the divisional leadership team, serve as a catalyst to drive the development and implementation of the strategic annual and long-range plans. Partner with key stakeholders to create a product strategy which integrates innovation and New Product Development (NPD) to generate a competitive pipeline of product introductions. Foster an environment of creativity, teamwork, and innovation by facilitating technical exploration and providing proactive support for the intellectual property management process. Work with divisional leaders to align resources to ensure appropriate focus and support is given to 80/20 opportunities of existing products to include product enhancement, certification, and value engineering Manage NPD engineering projects to deliver timely and cost-effective results. Establish and drive relevant R&D metrics and milestones for development performance, effectiveness, efficiency, and new product quality. Create and manage NPD budgets. Provide governance for 80/20 new products where large revenue currently exists in our core where NPD execution is critical. Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of established engineering systems, policies, procedures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives as appropriate. Identify design capacity requirements and implement strategies which utilize internal and external resources to satisfy capacity needs. Directly manage NPD engineering team.  Assist in career path movement for engineering team and shift resources as needed. Research adjacent technologies that can add significant value to our targeted end markets. Ability to manage joint design projects with suppliers.
