Description We are in search of a Health Information Management (HIM) Technician in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a HIM Technician, you will play a crucial role in our team by managing and maintaining patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EPIC) system. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Maintain and manage complete medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EPIC) in line with established procedures. Retrieve, file, and scan patient records, and index external documents into Electronic Health Record using OnBase. Respond to requests for records and follow state and federal guideline for Release of Information. Maintain and utilize a variety of health record indexes. Prepare patient charts, ensuring all files are in order. Operate computer systems to process, store, and retrieve health information. Analyze and review medical records for completeness and accuracy of documentation according to specified standards. Deliver incoming forms and prescriptions from external institutions to the appropriate provider for review. Follow up on requests for additional information from other institutions that have not been received in a timely manner. Compile, maintain, and review logs, reports, and statistical records, and research records to locate health data as requested. Ensure the confidentiality of the medical charts/records and comply with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to medical records. Perform medical records data entry and retrieval. Participate in organization-wide quality improvement initiatives as requested. Assist in the production and revision of medical records related policies and procedures. Requirements Minimum of 2 years experience in Health Information Management or related field Proficient in 3M, Adobe Acrobat, Allscripts, and AHLTA Familiarity with Cerner Technologies Experience in answering inbound calls and auditing Ability to create and interpret charts and graphs Knowledge of clinical trial operations Must understand and adhere to compliance rules and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks Proven problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Relevant certification or degree in Health Information Management is preferred.
