Description We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our team located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be tasked with ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining employee data, and resolving payroll issues. You will also be the primary contact for payroll inquiries and will be expected to communicate policies and regulations to employees.Responsibilities: Ensure accurate and prompt processing of bi-weekly payroll for various employee categories Coordinate and manage the flow and maintenance of employee data in the electronic timekeeping system Handle issues related to ACH reversals, stop payments, refunds, voids, and adjustments Assist with quarterly/year-end preparation and W2 processing Maintain accurate records in the HRIS system, including verifying new hires and terminations, and performing employee maintenance tasks such as transfers, address changes, pay rate changes, and direct deposit Conduct detailed review and analysis before, during, and after processing to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations Complete administrative tasks such as unemployment verifications, reference checks, employment verifications, and other payroll-related administrative tasks Respond to payroll inquiries from state/government agencies and maintain/track payroll-related materials for personnel files Audit work regularly and identify opportunities for improving procedures and systems Provide solution-focused customer service and communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations to employees.
