Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Hourly Workforce. Maintain time and attendance records via on-line system.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and work crew.
  • Maintain attendance of employees
  • Maintain documentation of nonconforming attendance, productivity, and compliance.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to production staff.
  • Plan flow of materials through department.
  • Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Verify conformance to specifications.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve safety, production methods, productivity, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinate production requirements across shifts.
  • Authorize the release of production items as operations are completed.
  • Use drawings, routings, and procedure documents to ensure compliance with product design requirements.
  • Identify errors in product drawings, routings and communicate for correction.
  • Disposition nonconforming items, including documentation of deviation requests as required. Review quality assurance documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Administrate Union Contract which includes review and resolution of grievances.
  • Participate in Operations safety program and enforce compliance with safety rules.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Previous Heavy Manufacturing Supervision Experience is highly preferred.
  • Previous 3rd Shift / Off Shift Manufacturing Supervision Experience in CNC Machining (turning, gear shaping/gashing,) Heat Treating (carburizing furnaces, induction hardening), Welding (sub-arc, hex-chrome, fit up/tack), and/or Heavy Assembly is preferred.
  • Prior union supervision or union experience would be a plus.
  • Experience with root cause investigations is beneficial.
  • Prior experience with lifting/rigging is preferred.
  • History of good interaction/communication with associates.
  • Proven history to have led a team that is stable related to retention and quality output of work and support for schedule adherence.
  • Change agent with a tenacious ability and passion to lead ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with Kronos "Time Keeping and Attendance" is a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN principles.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills - both process and people.
  • Ability to focus and meet deadlines on a timely basis.
