PURPOSE

Leads the development and management of Tableau desktop including dashboard creation, report authoring and troubleshooting, and data source management.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares visual presentations in Tableau.
  • Plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to data projects and other data management needs.
  • Work with senior technicians, data scientists, architects, and the portfolio manager to gather relevant information and perform own research.
  • Acts as technical leader for team and cross functional teams in the investigation and resolution of complex data, system, and software issues in the production environment. Nature of work requires 24/7 availability. Working off-hours is common.
  • Serves as consultant to management and other IS co-workers regarding Tableau design.
  • Facilitates change and innovation to legacy systems and processes.
  • Maintains and updates existing Tableau servers, tests client applications to determine compatibility with upgrades and works with clients to resolve any issues.
  • Serves as the primary technical point of contact on Tableau server engagements of moderate to high complexity, including service tickets requiring expert analysis. Performs high level troubleshooting of complex technical problems across various platforms and technologies on an enterprise-wide level.
  • Participates in capacity planning to ensure Tableau servers are adequately sized and configure to meet current and projected demand.
  • Takes an active role in directing and managing his/her own knowledge and experience base.
  • Responsible for unique and ongoing responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND
  • Strong knowledge on Tableau desktop, Tableau Prep and Tableau server
  • Experience on connecting API with Tableau server
  • Attention to details on design and presentable, meaningful charts as applicable
  • Strong SQL skills in at least one DB - SQL server, Oracle etc.
  • Exposure on Big Data connectivity with Tableau/Qlik
  • Experience working in Agile projects
  • Ability to build & publish interactive dashboard on Tableau online
  • Performs multiple tasks of moderate and high complexity
  • Work experience in HTML5/CSS, Javascript is optional
  • Operates across many platforms
  • Ability to multi-task and achieve multiple deliverables
  • Ability to achieve realization of tactical goals
  • 4+ years of experience as Tableau developer / 10+ years of BI experience
