What's the role?

We're looking for a Java Engineer to build the next generation of digital tools (back-end components) in support of our company's strategic objectives. As a member of our team, the role requires an agile engineering mindset, patience, and persistence to tackle complex problems, ability to get things done quickly but thoughtfully, and strong engineering skills.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain services and APIs
  • Demonstrates technical leadership to team
  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices within department
  • Utilizes working relationships across teams within their division
  • Assesses and provides solutions to system-wide architectural problems
  • Contribute technical expertise to future direction and modernization efforts
  • Translating business and technical requirements into solutions

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4-5 years professional experience required
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages, and practices
  • Proven experience with developing server-side applications with Java and Spring/Spring boot developing REST API endpoints
  • Modern cloud environment experience. Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based data architecture. Preferable with AWS cloud platform, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of modern deployment and build tools and practices - CICD and DevOps
  • Experience creating unit test using jUnit Jupiter, Mockito
  • Strong SQL background
  • Experience with repository tools such as Git for repo management
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, ownership mindset, and continuous learning
  • Manages own time to meet objectives
  • Ability to perform peer reviews on code and design
  • Mentor junior engineers and other team members

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with enterprise databases like DB2
  • Strong understanding of data Integration patterns and tooling including ELT/ETL, EII, Replication, Event Streaming and Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs
  • Working knowledge of data engineering practices
  • Experience with BPM or BRM methodologies and software
  • Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture

  • Willingness to learn new technologies/applications and easily adapt to changing priorities
