We are seeking hard-working senior software engineers with a desire to build Northwestern Mutual's future through modern software applications. Our team is searching for a senior engineer proficiently skilled in a variety of Java technologies to assist and lead in design and implementation of the application and services.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Proficient coding skills in Java and Java Spring Boot
  • Proven understanding of micro service design patterns and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker and containerization concepts
  • Working Knowledge of Cloud Concepts like Serverless, Computing, Storage and Cloud Native Application Design. AWS Stack is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Event Driven Architecture and eventing patterns. (Preferred but not mandatory)
  • Demonstrates technical leadership to team.
  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices within department.
  • Applies working relationships across teams within their division.
  • Assesses and provides solutions to system-wide architectural problems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4-5 years professional experience required
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages and practices
  • Proven critical thinking, ownership mindset and continuous learning
  • Experience developing solutions using agile methods
  • Mentor for the team and department
  • Advanced skillset in one or more technical platforms
  • Capable of presenting between product, engineering, and the business units
  • Manages own time to meet objectives
  • Ability to perform peer reviews on code and design
  • Proven understanding of design patterns and architecture
