• Directs the work of his/her direct reports.
• Prepares and issues performance reviews and disciplinary actions to direct reports.
• Develops goals for the Automation Department which align to the campus goals.
• Train and develop Automation Technicians and Engineers.
• Provide advanced design and development of automation systems and equipment intended to enhance production efficiency.
• Develop and prepare quotations for automation equipment. To include cost evaluation and return on investment (ROI) estimates.
• Provide in-depth machine control programming for automation equipment and quality inspection processes, including support of existing equipment.
• Perform equipment commissioning and validation.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting new and existing automation equipment.
• Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes, with emphasis on standardized work.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to develop, coordinate and implement technical training for employees.
• Serves as a cross functional member of the New Product Development team, with a role to optimize the manufacturing process and foster a robust process and Bill of Manufacture.

• 5+ years of experience in product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control standards and Robotics Equipment.
• Broad understanding of engineering fundamentals and directs the work of the Automation Department and leads project management for the department.
• Strong working knowledge and experience with Robotics, PLC, HMI, Drive Control and inspection Cameras.
• Knowledge about hydraulics/pneumatics, and other electro-mechanical systems, motors and linear actuators.
• Employ continuous improvement lean tools and lead teams to implement Kanban, SMED, VSM, Kaizen, 6S, etc. and Lean methods in numerous areas.
