Position Summary
  • This position resides in the Division of Management Services, Bureau of Computing Services (BCS). Under the supervision of the IS Supervisor 2 (Support Manager), this position is part of the desktop virtualization team and works without team members to develop, maintain, and support the end user virtualized desktop.
  • This position plays a key role in the day-to-day support of the WI DOJ’s Virtualized Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • The successful candidate must have extensive experience supporting the various enterprise components that are foundational to the VDI infrastructure including Microsoft Active Directory Administration, Microsoft Active Directory Policy Management, Microsoft Windows 10 advanced configuration and troubleshooting, Microsoft Server configuration and management, networking protocols and tools like TCP, UDP, DHCP, etc.,
  • Additionally, the application must have a solid understanding and demonstrated experience with the VMWare environment including the VMWare Dynamic Environment Manager, VMWare Horizon, and associated components.
  • This position will assist with packaging applications, troubleshooting application deployment, updating the base VDI image, deploy images, manage VDI desktop pools, and troubleshooting VDI issues at the server, network, and client level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills required. Ability to clearly communicate to persons with a broad range of technical understanding.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT service level agreements, memos of understanding or operating level agreements.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in identifying process improvements and presenting solutions.
  • Ability to working independently to provide advanced-level support for desktop hardware (PC’s, laptops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, etc.), tools, equipment, systems, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, install, diagnose, repair, maintain and upgrade IT hardware, systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in supporting and working with servers, networking elements, including hubs, routers, firewalls and switches.
  • Strong knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM).
  • Knowledge of Workspace One Airwatch, including device provisioning and device management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the configuration and management of the complete Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Advanced knowledge of the VMWare VSphere ecosystem.
  • Knowledge and skills in utilizing and supporting a common anti-virus solution.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in supporting the Microsoft Operating System and desktop applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop managements systems (i.e. Microsoft SCCM, LANDesk, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, customer service, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
