Job Description

The

Courieris responsible for driving from Signal Mountain Lodge to town and back to deliver and pick up various packages and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Drive company vehicle to/from town, picking up and dropping off packages
  • Perform staff shuttle service duties;maypick-up and drop-off arriving and departing staff to bus station/airportat irregular hours
  • Check withGeneral Manager/Director of Operationsand Accountingbefore leaving for town
  • Check with Maintenance department ondaily basis for needed supplies
  • Check in with Accounting department daily; pick up change orders
  • Maintain positive relationships and communications with vendors and contractors
  • Follow MSDS and keep updated
  • Back trailers into various locations and unhookin a safe manner
  • Secure items for safe transport using rope and/or tie-downs as necessary
  • Pick up recycling material at recycling storage area, dorm areas, kitchen, general store, campground,and Leek’s Marina & Restaurant
  • Sort and separate recycling materialsas necessary
  • Deliver recyclable materials to the recycling center in town daily for proper recycling
  • Keep accurate logs of amounts recycled. Fill out “Billof Re-use” forms when necessary
  • Keep receipts and order slips organized and turn in to General Manager and/or Accounting
  • Clean recycling bins and trailer
  • Maintain courier truck by checking oil, having oil changed, cleaning the truck interior and exterior and any other maintenance asrequired
  • Drive companyvehicles on andoff property in a safe, law-abiding manner and followSML’s driver safety program
  • Drive vehicle to town dump as necessary
  • Help identify and pull weeds as needed
  • Clean and/or maintainSML vehicles
  • Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
  • Works extra shifts and hours as required.
  • Assists in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Good driving/towing skills and ability to competently and safely drive a company vehicle while towing
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
  • Ability to learn all company training materials

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
  • Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs occasionally.
  • Ability to remain balanced; Stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp, and reach down, forward and overhead frequently.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Manual dexterity to grasp and handle cash, coins, paper, phones, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds frequently.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity and sometimes inclement weather.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, or previous driving-related work experience preferred.
