Job Description
The
EDR Utilityisresponsible for assisting in the preparation of nutritious and well-balanced meals for approximately 140 staff and providing exceptional customer service to the SML staff and guestsESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:- Help with the production of all EDR mealsbycutting, chopping, cooking,and heating food
- Clean the EDR, kitchen, indoor and outdoordining facilitiesdailyand weekly as needed
- Rotate fresh foods daily
- Prepare and cook food as assigned by the Employee Dining Room Manager or his/her assistant
- Wash dishes, pots and pans, empty garbage,compost,recyclingand other similarkitchenduties as assigned
- Help to provide quality meals and service to staff during their dining experience in the Employee Dining Room
- Sort and remove recyclables at the end of every shift or as directed by EDR supervisor
- Follow established food sanitation principles, procedures and regulation as outlined by the Public Health Service and the National Park Service
- Stockand rotatethe salad bar andother condiments as assigned.
- Complete SML’s Hazard Communication Program Training
- Know and follow ISO, OSHA, and all other Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and practices
- Help SMLconserve water and energy
- Complete special cleaning projects as assigned
- Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
- Works extra shifts and hours as required.
- Assists in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Read, write, speak and understand basic English.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- Ability to learn all company training materials
- Must have proper food handling or equivalent certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
- Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb stairs occasionally.
- Ability to twist, turn, push, pull, and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively; Kneel, squat, stoop and crouch frequently.
- Ability and manual dexterity to use small kitchen utensils/tools and operate appliances such as mixer, ovens, dishwasher, steamer, flat top, grill, fryer, knives, whisks, etc.
- Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds daily.
- Able to work in hot areas of kitchen (around dishwasher, ovens, cooking equipment) and cold areas (walk in refrigerators and freezers).
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, or 1 year of Kitchen-related work experience, or equivalent combination of work experience and education preferred.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, food storage, and sanitation procedures.
