PROCESS TECHNICIAN

DESCRIPTION

Maintain and provide continuous improvement of existing processes to achieve Rifle Assembly Value Stream's KPI goals as part of an overall team with Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering. You will be actively involved with maintaining process control and product flow, troubleshooting maintenance and product quality issues on equipment, providing adequate training to all employees, and directly supporting rifle assembly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot process issues and make process adjustments and improvements
  • Perform process setup and adjustments
  • Review and maintain all Standard Work/SOPs
  • Provide hands-on training and process direction to operators
  • Provide direct support to all processes of rifle assembly
  • Monitor condition of equipment and tooling and perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Continuously improve processes to achieve best output without compromising quality
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost objectives
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure product quality
  • Assist in developing Standard Work and Work Instructions
  • Ensure that safe practices are followed by all personnel
  • Working knowledge of metal finishing, and firearm assembly processes
  • Working knowledge firearm quality standards

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus

Competencies

  • Communication Proficiency

    • Excellent English language written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and barcode labels.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Technical Capacity

    • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
    • Ability to use and read measuring instruments.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MEASURES

  • Ensure that assigned orders are completed according to schedule.
  • Maintain quality standards as set forth by Weatherby.
  • Meet objective goals assigned during performance coaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, this position operates in a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud. Surrounding the environment is moving equipment, saws, cranes and other equipment that if not used with care can prove to be dangerous
