Job Summary

Academic Resource Center (ARC) peer tutors facilitate student success by helping students develop effective academic habits and understand challenging subject-related content.

Reports To

Kelly Derryberry, HSE Chair

Education/Qualifications

  • Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
  • Gillette College Student currently enrolled
  • Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings
  • Ability to work effectively with different types of learners
  • Ability to communicate academic content to learners

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to stand for 30 minutes at a time and deliver lessons to 1-10 students

Job Duties

These are the job duties for required of the position.

Responsibility/Duty

  • Work with a wide array of students at varying skill levels
  • Assist multiple students simultaneously
  • Greet ARC visitors/clients and assist students with scheduling appointments online
  • Help students understand subject-related concepts and facilitate student learning
  • Complete tutoring session form upon completion of each session
  • Develop and deliver workshop presentations as assigned
  • Attend all required trainings and staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentially as specified by FERPA
  • Maintain regular attendance according to scheduled hours
  • Perform duties with punctuality and professionalism
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding anticipated absences
  • Relay concerns to supervisor
  • Complete projects assigned by supervisor
