The Lead Network Engineer - is responsible for developing and integrating all network communication requirements along with researching/recommending future capabilities for the WWT production network. This includes (but is not limited to) routers, switches, Wireless Access, Remote Access, Firewalls, and networking components along with all software required to automate, configure, operate, and manage these devices. The Lead Network Engineer will design, build, and support data networks comprised of Cisco core and edge devices.

The Lead Network Engineer- serves as project lead for network-related projects, ensuring that these projects are delivered on time and meet quality expectations. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for designing and supporting the production network as it relates to network setup and configuration. The lead should be able to create and deliver training material for peers.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and propose new technology and infrastructure solutions to management and peers in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment that requires team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be comfortable interfacing with WWT partners and customers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of network ecosystems and their workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, SD-WAN, HTTP, VPN, Wireless, Monitoring, QoS,)
  • Design, setup, and configure complex switching environments
  • Design, setup, and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
  • Must be able to create documents, spreadsheets, and detailed drawings
  • Experience in enterprise environments using Cisco Solutions such as Nexus Product Lines, ACI, SD-WAN, Controller-Based Wireless, and firewalls
  • Experience supporting an operational LAN/WAN using a variety of Cisco layer 2 and layer 3 products
  • Experience in configuring and supporting f5 Load Balancers. Familiar with Static vs. Dynamic, Performance-based, and LTM load-balancing methods
  • Provide configuration and troubleshooting support for customer incidents related to Network Support. Familiar with gigamon and spanning of interfaces that will support advanced security and monitoring tools. Knowledge of LogicMonitor and extrahop is a plus
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, the ability to research and develop solutions to problems and provide training for product support.
  • Provide support to individuals building software and infrastructure-based solutions within WWT’s private cloud
  • Familiarly with the concepts of Software Defined Networking and virtual switching solutions
  • Scripting capabilities in Python or other related languages
  • Ability to work well with others and collaborate in a fast-paced environment is required. Candidate should be able to balance multiple work streams while prioritizing tasks and keeping stakeholders up to date as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active or working toward CCIE.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related major. Comparable work experience for non-degree candidates will be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication experienceProject management/leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite, and friendly manner, both written and verbal
EducationBachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred accompanied by designated certifications. Candidates should have the desire to gain technical skills through advanced certifications (MCSE/CCNP/CCIE) or other similar achievements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of network administration experience
  • CCIE certification
  • Previous experience in maintaining networking components in a data center and remote site environments including experience in network security
