This aircraft company in Beaverton, Oregon which specialize in the development of aircraft cargo conversions and special mission modifications, component and mod kit manufacturing, STC & AMOC certification, and continued airworthiness support is seeking a Design Engineer for a full time direct opportunity.This role is a great opportunity to join the world of aircraft conversions in a role that will provide a variety of interesting and challenging engineering tasks. You will participate in whole operational chain from preliminary design solution to installation on the airplane, including working on the aircraft assigned for modification/conversion in the hangar which gives unique experience in structural and systems design. Comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware, and general aircraft maintenance operations.

The selected candidate must be a self-starter who is adaptable, highly motivated, able to work under pressure, and can work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of aircraft design concepts, industry design standards, and FAA regulations. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to coordinate effectively with FAA, DERs, and customers. Ability to communicate effectively during design review meetings.Must work well with a team. Experience with STC modifications. Ability to maneuver around airplanes (e.g., climb stairs, get on work stands, man lifts) and in confined areas (e.g., cargo compartments, E/E bays) Ability and willingness to travel, both foreign and domestic. Willingness and ability to abide by company’s intellectual property agreement. Other duties as assigned.

Aerospace Design Engineer candidates should meet the following requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a :B.S. degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering and at least five years of Engineering work experience.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in CATIA v5 (Part Design, Sheet metal, 2D drafting).ENOVIA SmarTeam PLM database highly desirable.

Ability to prepare accurate and concise hand sketches for design improvements and ability to perform basic structural analyses. Fluency in aircraft fastener and material properties.
