Job Description

Scope of Position

Entry level position to learn the basics of the industry to support our Transcon, Air Export, and Ocean Export teams. Expect a six month training/on-boarding period.

Core Competencies

  • Timely and Accurate Shipment Processing-Ensures smooth and timely freight process flow according to Expeditors' operational procedures. Follows customer's standard operating procedures and proactively notifies customers of any issues. Consistently meets KPI standards, as per company's procedures.
  • Timely and Accurate Data Entry-Ensures accurate and timely data entry into our operational systems according to Expeditors' operational procedures and customer requirements. Monitors exception reports for quick data integrity resolution.
  • Timely and Accurate Billing and Accounting-Invoices customers the expected charges timely and accurately and according to Expeditors and customer requirements. Properly provisions service provider charges to avoid reserves. Follows proper credit approval processes in order to minimize risk and protect the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete on the job training, both instructor lead and self-guided.
  • Enter data into Expeditors’ proprietary systems
  • Collect, sort, and electronically label/file documents
  • Validate data provided by customers, government agencies and service providers
  • Communicate with customers and other Expeditors offices to obtain missing documentation/information.
  • Utilize various industry websites to obtain required information/data.

Qualifications

  • 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of air documentation process a plus
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Positive Can-Do Attitude
  • Pro-active, strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to engage with customers, vendors, government agencies, and the Expeditors network.
  • Driven towards positive results through effective interpersonal skills, including abilities to listen, comprehend, and communicate clearly and concisely
  • Proficient computer skills (including Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook)
