Data Center TechnicianHillsboro, OROnsiteContract$15.61/hr - $19.27/hrOur client is looking for a Data Center Technician for a 6-month contract in Hillsboro, OR 97006.Our client is a multibillion-dollar company that provides end-to-end managed services, technology, and consulting to enable the digital workplace for small to enterprise businesses. Join their team to be part of delivering individualized experiences to a diverse range of clients in a collaborative and productive workplace environment.Contract Duration: 6 MonthsRequired Skills & Experience

1-3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.

2+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support for networking or server devices

Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short periods required (i.e., data center hot isles)

Able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top-of-rack installations)

Able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible.

Able to lift 35 lbs. solo.

Willing to travel between buildings using personal car/foot.

May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods.

Excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills.

Requires knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily), and Windows 10.

Desired Skills & Experience

Higher education or degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution.

Experience in

Structured Network Cabling

Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types - RJ45

Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types – ST, SC, LC

WIFI H/W

Wireless LAN Controllers

Wireless Access Points

Networking

IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc

Experienced in Ethernet Switching H/W

Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies etc

Transceiver Types – SX, LX, SR, LR etc

Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge / Experience

Fluke Testers: Copper - Wire Map, Link Test etc, Fiber – OTDR Testing

Fluke Aircheck: Wireless Testing

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities

Responsible for onsite Physical Touch data center/Network Support. Rack, Stack activities, and Cross Connect.

Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks.

Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.

Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.

Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.

Provides technical support and guidance to users.

Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications.

Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.

Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

Will be part of an onsite team maintaining network environment in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Incidents and or Requests.

Providing Incident support by working with remote Level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components.

Provide Service Request Support by working with remote Network Support Teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers.

Participate in Hardware Rack & Stack installation of both Network and Server equipment, cable management, and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch leads, providing console access to the Remote Team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration.

Receive Hardware shipments for data center equipment landings.

Validation of Purchase Order accuracy of Hardware received.

Unboxing and Recycling of materials.

Move Equipment from dock to staging areas and or to DC racks.

Installation or retrofitting of server racks - rail and shelving installation.

Power and network cable installation and cable management.

Scanning and Labeling of installed devices (network or server).

Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory. Proper e-waste handling and disposal

Responsible for equipment shipping and receiving as needed.

Provide Escort Service for vendors/techs.

Work Request Tasks from the Service Now ticket system.
