This role provides active direction to achieve and execute Teradata’s company strategy through a variety of means including advising on strategic opportunities and alignment, strategic planning, market and competitive research, and driving cross-functional execution. The ideal candidate has core problem solving abilities applicable to a broad range of topics in the tech/software industry, deep experience in several functions, whether in industry or in consulting, and experience leading cross-functional teams on strategic topics.Primary Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, refresh, and extend our company strategy, in collaboration with our internal team, external advisors, and stakeholders across the organization

Ongoingly sense and synthesize relevant market, competitive, employee, customer and partner insights to inform and execute the strategy

Develop materials to support alignment on the strategy with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board

Support the translation of strategic shifts that underly the strategy into various approaches in our strategic execution framework, including strategic workstreams, in collaboration other members of the Strategy team

Contribute to the development of robust annual functional strategic and operation plans in line with our strategy, collaborating with key members of the various business functions

Contribute to execution of relevant stages of our M&A strategy in collaboration with the Corporate Development group and other functions

Ongoingly identify issues, suggest improvements and contribute to improving our strategic execution framework, including the strategic workstreams and our planning processes, among others

Be a convincing advocate for our strategy, engaging to listen and influence other parts of the organization in relevant forums

Develop, maintain and excite a network of leaders who are key to implementing our strategy or play a key influencing role on the senior leaders responsible for implementing our strategy

Develop, maintain and improve the assets communicating our strategy internally, including our Strategy website and strategy articulation documents, among others

Lead sessions to articulate and engage on our strategy in various relevant forums, and contribute to sessions engaging on and executing against our strategy with senior leaders

Support relevant leaders in various business functions in articulating our strategy in internal forums

Ongoingly proactively identify opportunities to improve our strategic execution, remove obstacles to our strategic success, and drive actionable insights across the organization

Contribute to the definition, alignment and execution of deep dives to action the identified opportunities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders

Dynamically adjust to evolving priorities to have the maximum impact on our business outcomes

Become seen as a reliable strategic thinker on topics of strategic importance to Teradata among key leaders contributing to strategy execution in various business functions

Develop a trusted advisor relationship with many of these leaders, including in relation to strategic decisions as well as their approach to decision making

Contribute to programs to instill strategic thinking and approaches in relevant groups or processes across the company

Deploy leadership judgement that tends to increase the profile and credibility of the Strategy function

Contribute to a team environment of trust, openness, accountability to deliver meaningful outcomes with urgency, and kindness to each other

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

BS/BA degree or equivalent; MBA degree preferred

10+ years of relevant experience, ideally within large scale tech/software companies or advisory firms serving those companies.

What You'll Bring

Experience leading cross-functional teams in driving best in class strategy development processes

Familiarity with the tech/software market landscape and experience quickly ramping sector-specific knowledge within tech sub-sectors; data & analytics sub-sector experience preferred

Experience leading discussions and aligning with key leaders and developing executive-and Board-ready materials

Experience with strategic execution programs based on cross-functional collaboration at a leadership level

Experience leading or co-leading companywide long-range and annual planning

Demonstrated experience with relevant parts of M&A processes

Experience with the strategic design, execution, and ongoing maintenance of performance management systems and/or balanced scorecards

Facility with balancing across the need to build consistency and reliability in our approaches and the need to question the right way of doing things

Experience leveraging a broad influencing toolkit to effect change and actions across an organization

Experience leading high-performing teams in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment to stay focused on key outcomes

Experience acting as a trusted advisor to key leaders

Experience running objective assessments of the performance of strategic imperatives and recommending actionable adaptations based on those assessments
