About Us

We are a mixed vegetable and flower farm managing about 43 acres on the Mohawk River. We are currently cultivating about 6 acres and work with another local farm grazing cattle on our pastures. This is our second year growing with consistent production and our first year growing both flowers and vegetables. We primarily sell to local food stores, restaurants, and CSA services and our farm is growing and changing quickly in these formative years. Our commitment is to produce high quality and consistent product for our customers. Our passion is to steward the land and take a balanced approach to managing production and the environment around us by surrounding our production areas with native perennials, inter-planting beneficial flowers, practicing rotational grazing, and riparian zone restoration.

Farm Hand Position

We are looking for someone who is passionate about growing and enjoying fresh vegetables and flowers. The ideal hire is able to focus a high quality product for the customer while maintaining a good work ethic and positive attitude. All tasks on the farm require someone who is self motivated, has attention to detail and an eye for high quality at a fast pace. Conditions are always changing on the farm, so the right person must be flexible and able to receive feedback in a dynamic environment.

Hours and Compensation

-$15/hr for three month trial period with raise to $16/hr if expectations are met/ exceeded

-possible end of year bonus depending on the success of the farm season

-farm produce and flowers

-20 to 40 hours a week through November, up to 20 hours a week January-March in the off season with opportunities to work on building farm infrastructure

Requirements

-at least 2 years of full time work experience involving physical labor

-a reference from a job working full time

-commitment to entire farm season with limited time off for most of the summer/ fall

-reliable transportation to the farm

-ability to work well as a team with other crew members

-ability to take direction, adjustments, and instruction on many different tasks

-ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and maintain endurance throughout the day

-eagerness to learn new skills and improve upon them quickly
