Position Summary

The Person in Charge (PIC) position plays a key leadership role in store operations, stepping in to help lead various areas in the overall store in the absence of the Store, Grocery, and/or Front-end Manager. This role ensures that daily tasks are completed efficiently, operational and food safety standards are maintained, and exceptional customer service is delivered. The PIC leads by example, fostering a positive team culture, mentoring staff, and upholding company policies. With strong organizational skills and a hands-on approach, the PIC ensures a clean, safe, and customer-friendly environment while driving store performance and team productivity.

Weekend availability is required.

This is a Full-time, acting supervisory role that assumes responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store or Grocery Manager.

Pay Scale

We believe in paying employees fairly for doing work of comparable character in line with the Oregon Equal Pay Act, and we’ve implemented an internal pay-scale system based on hours worked.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum 3 years of grocery retail experience

Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role

A current Food Handler’s Permit

Understands grocery store operations, food safety standards, and merchandising best practices

Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members

Is customer-focused, enthusiastic, and committed to providing exceptional service

Excels in time management and can juggle multiple priorities under pressure

Shows initiative, problem-solving ability, and a proactive mindset

Is comfortable handling cash and maintaining accurate records

Maintains a clean, organized, and safe store environment

Communicates effectively—both verbally and in writing—with staff, vendors, and customers

Is adaptable and flexible to changing goals, schedules, and business needs

Embraces a hands-on approach and leads by example every shift
