Job Responsibilities

Sharpen, maintain, and repair both band saws and circular saws to ensure optimal cutting performance.

Level, tension, and align saw blades for smooth, accurate, and safe operation.

Perform precision grinding (stellite, carbide, and knife grinding) and assist with band mill and edger alignment as well as wheel grinding.

Inspect saws for defects, troubleshoot performance issues, and carry out necessary adjustments or replacements.

Work collaboratively with sawyers and millwrights to optimize production and maintain high safety standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a sawfiler, benchman, or fitter (both band saws and round saws).

Experience preferred in stellite, carbide, knife grinding, band mill & edger alignment, and wheel grinding.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently, climb stairs regularly, and work safely in hot and cold environments.

Ability to bend, crawl, squat, and kneel without restrictions.

Willingness to work any shift and flexible workweek schedule; overtime available.
